Walleye Notes
- Past Week Performance, Collecting Six of Eight Possible Points! Toledo finished this past week with a 2-0-1-1 record. The week started with the Walleye collecting a point in Wheeling on Wednesday as they fell 3-2 in overtime. Toledo would collect their first win of 2012 on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Wheeling. Goaltender Rob Nolan stopped all 19 shots he faced in the win. The Walleye turned to their offense Saturday night as they out-scored Kalamazoo 5-4. Defenseman Joey Ryan netted the game-winning goal in the third period. The week concluded with a 2-1 shootout loss to Kalamazoo. Forward Harrison Reed scored with less than two minutes left in regulation time to tie the game at one.
- On a Roll! Walleye forward Joey Martin is currently enjoying a five-game point streak in which he has scored five goals while chipping in with three assists. Martin had an eight-game point streak earlier this year in which he scored four goals with six assists. Joey is Toledo's team leader in points with 25 this year (12g, 13a).
- Finding the Offense: Toledo scored 11 goals in the four games this week for an average of 2.75 per game. The Walleye had scored just six goals in the previous five games (1.2 per contest). The Walleye also allowed just nine goals during the past four games (2.25 per contest) after surrendering 22 goals in the previous five games (4.4 per game).
- Road Warriors! Toledo is 4-2-1-0 in their last seven road contests. The Walleye started the season just 2-6-0-0 in the first eight games away from home.
- Gametime: Following the mid-season break, Toledo will get back to action with three road games over three weekend days. It starts up with a trip to Johnstown to take on the Wheeling Nailers. The Walleye are 1-0-1 against the Nailers this season. Toledo will continue to head east Saturday as they will skate into Reading to take on the Royals. The Walleye defeated Reading 5-3 on November 19 in the only meeting so far this season. The week will conclude with a trip to Trenton to take on the Titans. Toledo is 1-2-0 against the Titans this season.
