Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces have signed former Aces defenseman Tyson Marsh for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Monday. Marsh was a member of the 2009 National Conference Championship team, and played in Alaska during the 2009-2010 season prior to moving overseas. Marsh is set to make his Aces season debut this Friday and Saturday when Alaska closes their 11-game home stand against the Idaho Steelheads. Tickets are on sale now. Marsh, 30, returns to the Aces after spending the last season and a half playing professionally in Europe. He began this year in Germany playing for Riessersee SC where he posted two goals and an assist in 16 games, while adding 28 penalty minutes. Last season he had 19 points (10g, 9a) and 60 PIM in 40 games for the Italian club Alleghe HC. Marsh most recently played for the Aces in 2009-2010 when he had 13 points (6g, 7a) in 30 games. He also appeared in four post-season games. The 6'2", 210 lbs. Marsh made his Alaska debut in the 2009 playoffs, where he played in 19 games helping the Aces to the Kelly Cup Finals. That season the Quesnel, BC native began the year with the ECHL's Reading Royals and was acquired via a March trade for Erik Felde. He spent the majority of the season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves. He has played in 53 combined regular season and post-season games for the Aces, notching 14 points (7g, 7a) and 56 PIM.
Counting his European games, Marsh has played exactly 300 professional games, however, the ECHL does not recognize his games from Italy and Germany, leaving him short of veteran status. 183 of his games were played in the ECHL for Pensacola, Columbia, Reading, and Alaska. He has appeared in 74 AHL games for the St. John's Maple Leafs, Toronto Marlies, Rockford IceHogs, and Wolves.
The Aces are back home this Friday and Saturday to close their 11-game home stand against the Idaho Steelheads. Tickets are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.
