
Wranglers Powers Past Thunder 4-1

Stockton, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (24-7-7, 55 points) defeated the Stockton Thunder (17-18-2, 36 points) 4-1 at the Stockton Arena on Saturday night. Forwards Adam Cracknell and Kelly Czuy each scored twice as the Wranglers improved to 5-0-1 against Stockton this season. Goalie Kevin Lalande stopped 33 Stockton shots, improving to 6-1-2 on the season. Forwards Chris Ferraro and Brandon Kaleniecki each dished out two assists in the victory. Stockton goalie Glenn Fisher stopped 28 Las Vegas shots in the defeat. Las Vegas will play in Stockton again on Sunday at 4:00 pm.
Right wing Adam Cracknell opened the scoring in the first period at 14:29 with his 16th goal of the season. Brandon Kaleniecki and Bruce Mulherin worked the puck down low on the power play, setting up Cracknell, who tipped in the rebound for the 1-0 first period lead.
In the second period, Las Vegas pushed the lead to 2-0 with their second power-play goal of the night. Center Chris Ferraro and left wing Marco Peluso set up Kelly Czuy's fourth goal off the season. Czuy snapped the puck off a Thunder defender and into the Stockton net for his fourth goal of the season.
In the third period, Brandon Schwartz scored his seventh goal of the season just 2:05 into the final period. David Rohlfs fed the puck to Schwartz from behind the Las Vegas net, springing the Stockton forward in the high slot. Schwartz beat Kevin Lalande with a wrist shot on the blocker side and bringing the Thunder within one goal at 2-1. Las Vegas countered at 13:37, as Cracknell tallied his second of the night. The power-play goal was assisted by Chris Ferraro and Aaron Power for the 3-1 Wranglers lead. Defenseman Jason Krischuk led an up-ice rush and set up Kelly Czuy's second goal of the evening. The shorthanded goal was also assisted by Brandon Kaleniecki for the 4-1 Las Vegas win.
Las Vegas continues on a four-game road trip with one more game in Stockton tomorrow, followed up by a game in Utah next Friday. The team returns home on Saturday, January 26th to host Utah at 7:05 pm.
