
Former Wrangler Boron makes 50 saves in Stockton's 1-0 win

Stockton, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (24-8-7, 55 points) were edged by the Stockton Thunder (18-18-2, 38 points) 1-0 at the Stockton Arena on Sunday night. Stockton goalie Tim Boron picked up his first professional shutout with a career-high 50 saves against his former team. Stockton's Andy Contois scored the only goal of the game for the Thunder victory. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande took the loss, stopping 27 of 28 Thunder shots. The ECHL All-Star Game is slated for Wednesday in Stockton at 7:00 pm. The Wranglers will play in Utah at 6:05 pm on Friday, January 25th.
Despite outshooting Stockton 17-9 in the opening period, Las Vegas was unable to score on Stockton goalie Tim Boron. The Wranglers went 0-4 in the first period on the power play.
In the second period, the teams continued to go back and forth with multiple scoring chances for each side. Both goalies played well, with Boron stopping all 14 Las Vegas shots in the middle period. Left wing Andy Contois broke a scoreless tie with only 20-seconds remaining in the period. The Stockton winger brought the puck in on the left wing side and snapped in his 13th goal of the season for the 1-0 Thunder lead.
In the third period, Boron completed the shutout, stopping all 19 shots from the Wranglers.
Las Vegas concludes a four-game road trip in Utah next Friday. The team returns home on Saturday, January 26th to host Utah at 7:05 pm.
