
Wranglers Fall To Aces, 5-2

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (0-2-0, 0 Points) were defeated by the Alaska Aces (4-0-0, 8 Points) 5-2 in front of 3,107 fans at the Orleans Arena on Thursday night. Alaska forward Colin Hemingway tallied two goals and added an assist for the Aces in their fourth consecutive win. Aces forward John Lammers scored twice and added two assists, and Matt Stefanishion also scored in the win. Alaska goalie Sebastian Dahm stopped 26 shots for his third win on the season. Forwards Justin Bernhardt and Shay Stephenson scored for Las Vegas. Wranglers goalie Joel Gistedt stopped 23 of 28 shots in his first start of the year. The Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces tomorrow night, October 23rd, at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
Alaska opened the scoring in the first period as forward John Lammers tallied his fourth goal on the season just 4:23 in to play. Aces defenseman T.J. Fast and forward Brett Hemingway set up Lammers on the power play to give Alaska the 1-0 lead. The Aces increased the lead to 2-0 with a shorthanded goal from forward Colin Hemingway. Lammers and Hemingway capitalized on a 2-on-1 at 6:42 to increase their early first-period lead.
In the second period, the Alaska power play struck again with Colin Hemingway tallying his second goal of the game. At 11:55, Hemingway snapped a wrist shot from the top of the left circle for the 3-0 Aces lead.
In the final frame, Lammers tallied his second goal of the game at 7:41 to increase the Alaska lead to 4-0. Lammers put a wrist shot past Wranglers goalie Joel Gistedt while shorthanded for his fifth goal on the season. Alaska padded the lead to 5-0 at 12:07 of the third, with a goal from forward Matt Stefanishion. Stefanishion tapped in a pass from Alexandre Imbeault for his second goal on the season. Las Vegas got on the board with a goal from forward Justin Bernhardt at 12:55 of the third period. Wranglers forward Mick Lawrence and defenseman Robbie Bina set up the power-play goal to trim the Alaska lead to 5-1. The Wranglers cut the lead to 5-2 with 2:28 remaining in the game with a goal from forward Shay Stephenson. Stephenson put in a loose puck for his first goal of the season.
Following the game, Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Ryan Mougenel commented on his team's play.
