Matt Cohen Returns

Trenton, NJ, October 23, 2009 - The Lowell Devils of the AHL today loaned defenseman Matt Cohen to the Trenton Devils of the ECHL. The announcement was made by Lowell and Trenton Devils' General Manager Chris Lamoriello.

The New York City native spent most of the last two seasons in Trenton, while also dressing for Lowell on nine occasions. Last year, Cohen had 47 points (12g, 35a) in 58 regular season games for Trenton, also notching two assists in six playoff games. An American Conference All-Star during the 2007-08 season, Cohen played in all 72 Trenton Devils' games, picking up five goals, 17 assists and 67 penalty minutes.

Cohen signed with Trenton in March of 2007 following his senior season at Yale University. The team captain skated in all 31 games for the Bulldogs as a senior, 118 in his career. He was a three-time Academic All-ECAC selection and won the Malcom G. Chase Award for sportsmanship.

Playing with the U.S. National Team Development Program for two years, Cohen appeared in every game of the 2003 World Under-18 Championships in Russia. He was the first NTDP player to attend Yale.

A right-handed shooter, Cohen stands six-foot-one, weighs 200 pounds and will turn 24 years old November 8.
