Wranglers Comeback to Defeat Austin Capitol Sound

WACO, Texas-Guard Reggie Griffin scored 34 points to lead the Wranglers to a 120 to 114 victory over Austin Capitol Sound Thursday.

The Wranglers played a close game trailing 55-57 at halftime. The Wranglers trailed throughout the third quarter before the making a comeback in the fourth to defeat Austin Capitol Sound 120-114. The victory improved the Wrangler's record to 6-0 in preseason play.

"We got off to a slow start tonight. I think we weren't focused coming into the game," Reggie Griffin said. "They got a large amount of points on us, with the lead going into halftime. But, after the half we regrouped and got back together and concentrated on defense and rebounding."

Five other Wranglers put double digits on the board with Chris Johnson adding 21, Kevin Winn 16, David Stephens 15, Mario Kinsey 13 and Sheldon Denson 11.

The Wranglers have two additional preseason games this weekend before they compete against other ABA teams. Their season opener will be Nov. 4 against Arkansas Aeros in Springdale, Ark. The Wrangler's first regular season home game is scheduled for Nov. 11 against Monterrey, Mexico at Reicher Catholic High School.

The Waco Wrangler's return to action Saturday night, Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m. when they face Houston Blaze at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco. Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at ten dollars.
