Noise ink deal with long range bomber
October 26, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Knoxville Noise News Release
The Knoxville Noise are excited about their latest player signing. The Noise and Terrence Woods, former Florida A&M and Tennessee player, have reached an agreement for Terrence to play for the Noise in the upcoming 2006-2007 ABA season. Terrence is known for his consistent accuracy from the 3point line. He gives the Noise an outside threat that will cause opposing teams to think twice about playing zone defense.
As a junior at Florida A&M during the 2003 season, Terrence set a new NCAA record by averaging 5 three pointers a game. Terrence broke the record held by Timothy Pollard of Mississippi Valley State since 1988 of 4.71 pts. a game. He finished the season with a 139 successful treys, leaving him fourth on the all time division list for three pointers made during a season. He finished his career as 11th on the all time list for three pointers in NCAA division I history with 353; and this was done with limited playing time his first two collegian years at the University of Tennessee.
A Memphis native, Terrence started his college basketball career at the University of Tennessee. He then transferred to Florida A&M after his sophomore season as Tennessee went through a coaching change. His senior year, he was pre-season player of the year in the MEAC conference. He was first team all MEAC in 2003 and 2004. He once made 12 three pointers against Coppin State on March 1, 2003 and made 11 points in a game against North Carolina A&T February 1, 2003. Terrence won the Capital One Men's 3 point shootout in 2004, a showcase of the best senior collegian players during March Madness final four weekend. His senior year, he led the Rattlers to a NCAA tournament birth where he scored 21 points in a victory against Lehigh. He followed that up by scoring 24 in a loss to Kentucky in a first round match up.
Terrence has played professional for a couple of years in Europe. His latest professional stint was with Ensenada of the LNBP of Mexico this past summer. He scored 40 points his first game and was averaging 24 before he left after a management change.
Noise Head Coach, Gerald Oliver, had this to say about Terrence. "He has exceptional range. I would even call it NBA range. If he continues to work hard, there is no limit to how far basketball can take Terrence. He is very quick off the dribble and only needs a sliver of daylight to get his shot off."
Terrence and the Noise take the court for the first time on November the 9th against the Tennessee Mudfrogs in Chattanooga. For more information visit the Noise website at www.knoxvillenoise.com .
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
