Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (21-5-4, 46 Points) were defeated by the Bakersfield Condors (8-17-5, 21 points) 3-2 at Rabobank Arena on Sunday night. Condors' winger Evan Kotsopoulous broke a 2-2 tie with his second goal of the season at 10:28 of the third period for the Bakersfield win. Wranglers' defenseman Aaron Power and Shawn Limpright each scored in the first loss of the season to Bakersfield. Las Vegas all-star goalie Daniel Manzato dropped to 12-3-1, stopping 18 Bakersfield shots. Condors' goalie Yutaka Fukufuji improved to 7-7-0 with 25 saves. Las Vegas returns home to host the Stockton Thunder at 5:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, Bakersfield quickly took a 1-0 lead as defenseman Kevin Truelson ripped his seventh goal of the season past Las Vegas goalie Daniel Manzato just 28-seconds into game. With just under five minutes remaining in the opening period, the Condors stretched their lead to 2-0. Center Eric Sonnenberg tipped in a loose puck rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
In the second period, Las Vegas took advantage of a five-on-three power play to score the team's first goal of the night. Defenseman Aaron Power ripped a slapshot from the blueline past Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji at 3:01. Power's sixth goal of the season was set up by Tyler Mosienko and Jason Jozsa. Las Vegas would tie the game 2-2 less than four minutes later. Left wing Shawn Limpright shuffled the puck from behind the Bakersfield net and backhanded the puck past Fukufuji for his fourth goal of the season. Peter Ferraro and Jason Krischuk each picked up an assist on the play.
In the third period, Evan Kotsopoulous broke a 2-2 tie with his second goal of the season at 10:28. The Condors winger stuffed in a wrap-around shot from behind the net to give Bakersfield a one-goal lead.
Las Vegas will return home to begin a six-game home stand starting with Stockton at 5:05 pm on New Year's Day at the Orleans Arena. The team will host the Fresno Falcons on January 4, 5, and 8 at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
