Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors lost to the Stockton Thunder Saturday night, 5-4, in front of 5,517 at Rabobank Arena in downtown Bakersfield. The Condors came from behind to tie the game twice, but they couldn't catch the Thunder late in the third.
C Jonas Almtorp and C Greg Paukovich gave Stockton (13-15-2, 28 points) a two-goal lead in the first. The Condors (7-17-5, 19 points) drew one goal closer at the 16:01 mark of the first when F Andrew Ianiero notched his eighth tally of the campaign. F Maxime Lincourt and F Sean Venedam picked up the assists on Ianiero's goal.
Although the Condors started the second period on the penalty kill, C Tim Konsorada tied the game with a shorthanded goal at 2:47. Konsorada intercepted a pass in the Bakersfield zone, skated the puck down the length of the ice and wristed a shot past Thunder G Glenn Fisher from the right-wing circle for his team-high 18th goal of the year. Stockton retook the lead at 5:10 of the middle frame, as LW Andy Contois beat Bakersfield G Yutaka Fukufuji to make the score 3-2.
Bakersfield battled back in the third and tied the game at 3-3 when LW Mark Derlago notched his seventh goal of the season after finding the puck in the low slot and slapping it through traffic in the crease for the score. However, LW Tom Zanoski put Stockton back in the lead with his first career goal at 12:30 of the final frame. RW Stephane Goulet padded the lead with an empty-net goal. One last goal by D Reagan Leslie in the waning seconds of the game accounted for the 5-4 final score.
Notes: F Andrew Ianiero scored his 251st and 252nd career points tonight and reached the 250 point mark on Dec. 21 against Stockton. C Tim Konsorada extended his goal-scoring streak to five games and his point streak to six games with a goal tonight. G Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 28 of 32 shots for Bakersfield tonight.
