Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Oren Eizenman scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Fresno Falcons to a 5-3 win over the Victoria Salmon Kings on Sunday in front of 3,575 fans at Save Mart Center.

It was Eizenman's second straight three-point night, and his third such effort in the last four games.

The Falcons got on the board early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Brady Leisenring skated into the Victoria zone, made a nice move to get around defenseman Darren Deschamps, and beat goaltender Billy Thompson with a wrist shot high to the glove side for his eighth goal of the season at 4:32.

Fresno doubled the lead with a power-play goal at 15:42. Kenny MacAulay took a shot from the right point, which was deflected out of midair by Eizenman on the far post for the power-play tally.

The Falcons tallied their second power-play goal of the night 8:34 into the second period to extend the lead to 3-0. Matt Stefanishion took a shot which was stopped by Thompson, but the rebound sat free at the top of the crease where it was gathered in by Jarrett Konkle, and stuffed past Thompson for his 14th of the season.

Eizenman added his second of the night at 12:55 stretching the lead to 4-0. Eizenman's initial shot was stopped by Thompson, but defenseman Dylan Yeo's clearing attempt landed right back on Eizenman's stick, and he swept the puck into an open net for the tally.

Victoria got on the board 26 seconds into the third period. Wes Goldie had the puck on the end boards of the Fresno zone, and centered it in front where it got caught in the skates of goaltender Kris Mayotte, and he kicked it into his own net, ending his bid for a shutout.

The Salmon Kings added a power-play goal at 6:51 to cut the Falcons lead to two. Chris St. Jacques' dump-in took a strange bounce off of the end wall and rolled in front for Kevin Estrada who beat Mayotte off his backhand for his 10th goal of the season.

Igor Gongalsky gave the Falcons some breathing room with his 11th of the season at 11:10. Gongalsky gathered in a rebound on the near post and swept it past Thompson to give Fresno a 5-2 lead.

Goldie added a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 16:57 to set the final.
