
Johansson Assigned From AHL, Two Thunder Called Up

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced rookie center Fredrik Johansson (YO-hahn-son) has been assigned to the Thunder from Springfield and rookie center Jonas Almtorp (YO-nas) and left wing Stephane Goulet (Stef-AWN, Goo-LAY) have been recalled from the Thunder to Springfield.
Johansson, 23, has scored five points (4g-1a) in 25 games with Springfield, amassing eight penalty minutes. A ninth round selection (274th overall) of the Oilers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Johansson appeared in one preseason game with the Oilers this year (5-4 win at Calgary on September 22) and registered a +1 rating
The Munkedal, Sweden native represented Team Sweden at the World Junior Championships (Under-18) in 2001-02, scoring a goal in eight games with two penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound pivot has previously appeared in 198 career games with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League and Halmstad and Vasteras of the Swedish 2nd Division, scoring 61 points (24g-37a) with 86 penalty minutes. Johansson scored a career-high 30 points (15g-15a) in 46 games with Vasteras in 2004-05, registering 32 penalty minutes.
Almtorp, 24, has received his second call-up to Springfield this season and has totaled 17 points (7g-10a) in 27 games with the Thunder. A fourth round selection (111th overall) of the Oilers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Almtorp has appeared in seven games at the AHL level with Springfield, going scoreless and tallying two penalty minutes.
Goulet, 21, has scored 14 points (4g-10a) in 12 games with the Thunder this season and had a goal and assist in a 5-4 Thunder victory over Bakersfield on December 29 to extend his point-scoring streak to nine consecutive games. A seventh round selection (208th overall) of the Oilers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Goulet has scored one goal in nine games with Springfield this season and has registered six penalty minutes.
