Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (6-6-0, 12 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (6-4-0, 12 Points) 4-0 in front of 3,681 fans at the Orleans Arena on Thursday night. Defenseman Robbie Bina led the way for Las Vegas with a goal and two assists. Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 37 shots for the shutout victory. Forwards Matt Watkins, Chris Neiszner and Matt Kang all tallied for Las Vegas who improves to 6-6-0 this season. Utah goalie Parker Van Buskirk stopped 21 of 24 shots to move to 4-3-0 this season. The Wranglers will host the Utah Grizzlies Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
The Wranglers got on the scoreboard just 50 seconds into the first period with a goal from left wing Matt Watkins. Defensemen Mike Madill and Craig Switzer assisted on Watkins' fourth goal on the season to give Las Vegas the early 1-0 lead. Las Vegas increased the lead with defenseman Robbie Bina's second goal on the year at 7:25. Bina received a pass from forward Shay Stephenson after exiting the penalty box and buried the puck for the 2-0 Wranglers lead.
After a scoreless second period, Las Vegas Captain Chris Neiszner gave the Wranglers the 3-0 lead with his second goal on the season. Assisting on Neiszner's goal was Stephenson and Bina at 7:21 of the third period to pad the Las Vegas lead. Forward Matt Kang buried an empty-net goal at 18:49 to seal the Wranglers 4-0 win.
