Countdown To Face-Off

For the first-time since the 1999-2000 season, when both teams were members of the International Hockey League, the Kalamazoo Wings will battle the Cincinnati Cyclones. Tonight is the first of two consecutive encounters between the clubs.

After three straight road games, the K-Wings return home to commence a four-game home stand. Kalamazoo will play 14 of their next 19 contests at Wings Stadium. With 17 points, the K-Wings lead the North Division, as well as the entire American Conference.

This evening is the middle contest of a three-game road trip for Cincinnati. The Cyclones, who are 3-3-0-0 away from the U.S. Bank Arena, began the swing with a 6-5 loss last Saturday against the Toledo Walleye. With 10 points, Cincinnati begins the night in third place in the North Division.

Nie Returns

Earlier today, goaltender Ryan Nie was returned from loan from Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. Nie, who was the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October, has a 2.21 goals-against average and a 0.926 save percentage.

Home Sweet Home

After three straight road contests, Kalamazoo will return to Wings Stadium to commence a four-game home stand. Kalamazoo, who is 2-1-0-0 at home this season, can start to get cozy at Wings Stadium, as 14 of their next 19 contests will be played at Vanrick Drive.

Out Shot

Despite being out shot 98-61 in two games this weekend, the K-Wings won both of their contests. Kalamazoo is now 2-1-0-0 when their opponent registers more shots.

K-Wings' forward Trent Daavettila and captain Sam Ftorek enter the contest each on a six-game point streaks. Daavettila has earned 9 points (6 goals, 3 assists) during the streak, while Ftorek has rung up 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in his last six games.
