Everblades Wrangle a Win in SO 4-3

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades faced-off against the Toledo Walleye in a Friday night match up, the second game of a three-game series. Jacob Micfliker and Ahren Spylo scored in a shoot out session helping the Blades win their sixth game of the season with a 4-3 victory. Goaltender Barry Brust started his first game for the Everblades stopping 34 of 37, posting his first win of the season. Everblades center Rob Hennigar continued his great play, scoring in his fourth consecutive game and added to his six game point streak with an early assist. Left winger Jacob Micflikier added three helpers and A.J. Thelen added a power play goal. Walleye center Adam Hobson scored two goals and added an assist.

The Walleye opened the scoring with just 1:05 left in the first stanza. Adam Hobson snapped Toledo's 0 for 10 streak against the Everblades on the power play making the score 1-0. With eight seconds remaining in the first, Everblades left winger Ryan Lang evened the score at 1-1; Jacob Micfliker added the lone assist.

Toledo took advantage of the power play for the second consecutive period. Right winger Evan Rankin scored his sixth goal of the season at 12:13, on a 5 on 3 power play putting the Walleye up 2-1. Center Maxime Tanguay and Adam Hobson picked up the assists.

The Everblades evened the score at 2-2 to start the final stanza. Blades defensemen A.J. Thelen scored his third goal of the season at 7:13 while on the power play. Jacob Micfliker and Rob Hennigar added helpers on Thelen's goal. Less than a minute later the Blades captured the lead making it 3-2, as Rob Hennigar scored his seventh goal of the season. The Walleye then evened the score to 3-3, Aaron Hobson scored his second goal of the night at 17:23 in the final period.

The Walleye and the Blades carried action over into an extra session of play. Both teams started overtime playing 3-on-3 hockey as Ryan Lang (Everblades) and Ryan Stokes (Toledo) both served minor penalties. The game then went into a best of five shoot out, with the Blades clinching the win 4-3 thanks to goaltender Barry Brust, making the final save.

The Everblades take on the Toledo Walleye tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. for the final game of the three-game set.
