Everblades Sign Forward Ahren Spylo

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced the signing of forward Ahren Spylo today. Defenseman Matt Duffy has been recalled to the Everblades American Hockey League affiliate the Rochester Americans. Everblades defenseman AJ Thelen has been activated off the injured list.

The twenty-five year-old Spylo joins the Everblades after playing last season in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This is the Ontario native's first time back the United States since skating for the Albany River Rats (AHL) during the 2005-2006 season.

Originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2002 (round 3, 8th overall), the six-foot-three, 225-pound left wing appeared in 28 games for the Moscow Chekhov Vityaz, scoring 12 goals and seven assists for 19 total points with 59 penalty minutes. The 2008-2009 season was his career best as an Nuermberg Sinupret Ice Tiger in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). Over 56 appearances, Nittel accumulated 64 total points (41 goals, 23 assists).

Defenseman Matt Duffy has been recalled to the Rochester Americans. Duffy had appeared in ten games with the Everblades this season and registered one assist with 18 penalty minutes. The former Maine Black Bear was +3 during that stretch as well.
