Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - For the second game in a row, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 2-1 in a shootout tonight over the Alaska Aces.

Newly returned from a two-month stint with the AHL's Abbotsford Heat, Wranglers center Judd Blackwater appeared to tally the first goal of the game at the 7:18 mark. After review, the score remained 0-0 until Aces right wing Wes Goldie put a goal on the board three minutes later. Alaska held the 1-0 lead and an 18-12 shot advantage over Las Vegas through the second period.

In the last 2:59 of regulation, Wranglers forward Sean Wiles secured the game-tying goal with help from Aces left wing Ethan Cox after the puck bounced into the net off his skate. The 1-1 game held up through overtime, and for the second game in a row, a late game-tying goal forced the two teams into a shootout. Both Wranglers captain Mike Madill and Aces captain Brian Swanson netted goals in the first round, but a sixth round was forced and won by Wranglers defenseman Barry Goers. For the second consecutive game, Las Vegas collected the 2-1 shootout win over Alaska. Goers and Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon, who stopped 28 of 29 shots, received the top two Three Star nods for the game.

The Wranglers finish the three-game series against the Aces tomorrow night, and then head to Boise to take on the Idaho Steelheads on March 2 and 3. When the team returns home on Sunday, March 18, Wranglers players will shave their heads on the ice to raise funds and awareness for St. Baldricks Foundation.
