Trenton Titans News Release

TRENTON, N.J. - Artem Demkov scored a pair of goals and the Elmira Jackals came up with a solid defensive effort to trip the Titans 3-1 Sunday afternoon before 3,821 at the Sun National Bank Center.

The Jackals improved to 33-20-2-2-70, while the Titans fell to 19-25-3-4-46. Prior to yesterday's contest, the Titans had defeated the Jackals three straight times.

Demkov received the First Ace of the game, scoring his 16th and 17th goals. His first came on the power play with 13:08 left in the first period.

The Titans tied the game at 1-1 on Tyler Hostetter's sixth goal with 12:08 remaining in the second period. The Titans' loan goal was unassisted. Demkov put the Jackals ahead to stay at the 9:23 mark. The only goal in the final period was of the empty-net variety by Jean Bourbeau with 15 seconds left in the game.

Both the Titans' Dave Caruso, who returned from loan to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and Jackals' Timo Pielmeier, played well, with Caruso, who stopped 34-of-36 shots earning the Second Ace and Pielmeier, who turned away 22-of-23, the Third Ace.

"I thought our defensive effort and pressure were solid,'' said Titans coach Vince Williams. "I thought we played hard and gave a solid effort. We didn't do enough on offense.

"Elmira played well and made it a bit hard for us.''

The Titans next play at Gwinnett Friday to begin a four-game Southern swing with stops in Greenville and North Charleston, S.C., before returning home March 9 for another meeting with ECHL Atlantic rival Elmira.

Prior to yesterday's game, the Titans, in addition to welcoming back Caruso, released goalie Peter Dundovich and signed right-winger Matt Moffat from Danbury of the Federal League.
