Worcester Sharks Host Online Jersey Auction to Benefit the SHINE Initiative

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Sharks (@WorcesterSharks), proud American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that the club will auction off the remaining SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks specialty jerseys during an online auction to benefit the SHINE Initiative on www.SharksAHL.com beginning on Sunday, March 23 at 8pm (EST).

The Sharks sported the SHINE Initiative jerseys during Worcester's 5-1 victory over the Manchester Monarchs on March 16, 2014 at the DCU Center.

A portion of the proceeds of the online jersey auction will benefit the SHINE Initiative.

The online jersey auction to benefit the SHINE Initiative begins on Sunday, March 23 at 8pm (EST) and concludes on Sunday, March 30 at 8pm (EST) and will consist of the following jerseys;

Bracken Kearns - game worn #16 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Sharks veteran forward and alternate captain Bracken Kearns. Bracken picked up a cross checking penalty in the game. Kearns scored his first three NHL goals this season with the San Jose Sharks and also suited up in his 500th AHL game earlier this season with Worcester. Click HERE to place a bid!

Matt Tennyson - game issued #5 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Sharks defenseman and Western Michigan Univ. alum Matt Tennyson. Matt became the 1st member of the San Jose Jr. Sharks to suit up for the San Jose Sharks as he played four games last year in the NHL. Led all Worcester Sharks defensemen with 27 points last season and is currently on recall with the SJ Sharks. Click HERE to place a bid!

Harri Sateri - game worn #35 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Sharks goalie Harri Sateri. Harri made 26 saves in the game and was the #3 star. A native of Finland, Harri ranks 3rd in Worcester Sharks franchise history in wins and was original drafted by the SJ Sharks in 2008. Click HERE to place a bid!

Kyle Bigos - game worn #6 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Sharks rookie defenseman and Merrimack College alum Kyle Bigos. Kyle picked up his first AHL point (assist) in the game and finished +3. Bigos has played games this season with San Francisco (ECHL) and Ontario (ECHL) and attended the San Jose and Worcester Sharks training camps this season as a rookie. Click HERE to place a bid!

Eriah Hayes - game issued #18 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Sharks rookie forward Eriah Hayes. Eriah did not play in the game due to injury. Hayes scored his 1st NHL goal with the San Jose Sharks this season vs. Karri Ramo in Calgary on Jan 30, 2014. The Minnesota State - Mankato alum has 11 points (7-4-11) in 45 games in Worcester this season. Click HERE to place a bid!

Sebastian Stalberg - game issued #8 SHINE Initiative Worcester Sharks jersey from Portland Pirates forward Sebastian Stalberg. The University of Vermont Alumni began the season with Worcester before joining San Francisco (ECHL), Ontario (ECHL) and now Portland (AHL). A native of Gothenberg, Sweden, Stalberg is the younger brother of Nashville Predators forward Viktor Stalberg. Click HERE to place a bid!

The SHINE Initiative will be a leader in the effort to recognize mental illness in children and young adults as a mainstream health issue. In pursuit of this mission, the SHINE Initiative develops funding and strategic alliances to improve public awareness and understanding of mental health issues, research and treatment.
