LOUISVILLE, KY -The Worcester Red Sox (26-30) matched their season highs in both runs (14) and hits (18) as they snapped their five-game losing streak on Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field, blowing out the Louisville Bats (30-25) by a 14-1 final.
Louisville scored the game's first run in the first inning, but the WooSox responded in the third. After back-to-back singles from Christian Koss and Caleb Hamilton to open the inning, Nick Sogard lined a third-straight single to plate Koss and tie the game at one.
The WooSox erupted for four runs in the sixth. Dalbec led off the frame with a homer over the left-field fence to put Worcester on top 2-1. Later in the inning, after walks to Ryan Fitzgerald and Daniel Palka, Hamilton blasted a three-run homer to give the WooSox a 5-1 lead.
Dalbec has homers in three consecutive games. He has hit seven home runs on Worcester's two-week road trip, and he has 10 in his last 17 games since he was optioned from the big leagues.
In the seventh, the WooSox scored five times and sent 10 men to the plate. Adam Duvall led off the inning with a double to left. He then scored on a Niko Goodrum RBI single. After Dalbec singled, Fitzgerald pulled a two-run double down the right-field line. Palka singled to plate Fitzgerald. Koss lined a double down the first-base side to score Palka.
Worcester had six hits in the seventh inning, setting a new season high for hits in an inning.
Palka singled in two runs in the eighth to make it a 12-1 game.
Dalbec added another RBI in the ninth, singling in Goodrum. Fitzgerald clubbed his third double of the game to make it 14-1.
Each member of the WooSox lineup had at least one hit. Six of the nine had multiple hits (Sogard, Dalbec, Fitzgerald, Palka, Koss, and Hamilton).
