
WooSox hitting the story in win over IronPigs

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (24-33) saw the Worcester Red Sox (34-22) record 13 hits in a 10-3 win on Friday night. The WooSox were 3-for-7 with runners in scoring position compared to Lehigh Valley's 1-for-11 in scoring position.
The WooSox scored four runs against Chase Anderson (0-1) in the top of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. Franchy Cordero and Jack Lopez each hit two-run singles. Nick Maton got Lehigh Valley on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when he hit a home run against Daniel Gossett (6-3). The home run was Maton's second of the season.
Anderson left the game after three innings. He allowed four runs off six hits with six strikeouts recorded. Marcus Wilson hit an RBI double against Jakob Hernandez in the top of the fourth inning to extend Worcester's lead to 5-1. David Parkinson, Thursday's original starting pitcher for Lehigh Valley, entered the game to pitch in relief of Hernandez.
Worcester took an 8-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning when Chris Herrmann hit an RBI double that was followed by a two-run home run by Johan Mieses. The home run for Mieses was his fourth of the season. Charlie Tilson hit an RBI single against Brandon Brennan in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut Worcester's lead to 8-2.
Josh Ockimey and Marcus Wilson both homered in the top of the eighth inning to give Worcester a 10-2 lead. Matt Vierling added a sacrifice fly for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 10-3 game.
The IronPigs and WooSox will play at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park.
