PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers could not overcome a seven-run third inning by the Toledo Mud Hens and ultimately fell, 12-5, on Thursday at Werner Park.

Toledo (32-24) scored on the very first pitch, when Derek Hill hit a solo home run against Omaha (35-21) left-hander Daniel Lynch (Loss, 4-3).

The Mud Hens sent 11 men to the plate in the third inning, scoring seven runs on six hits. After Yariel Gonzalez led off with a solo home run, a double and two walks loaded the bases. Each of the next four hitters drove in at least one run. JaCoby Jones recorded an RBI single, Jacob Robson drove in two with a single, and Dustin Garneau collected an RBI double to drive Lynch from the game after 2.1 innings. After right-hander Jace Vines entered the game, Robson scored on a sacrifice fly by Hill and Garneau came in on an RBI single by Gonzalez, who had two hits and two RBIs in the inning.

Lynch allowed a career-high eight runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings, his shortest start of the season at the Triple-A level. Vines threw a season-high 3.2 innings, keeping the Mud Hens off the board and allowing just two hits.

Omaha scored four of its five runs in the sixth inning after right-hander Nolan Blackwood (Win, 1-0) threw three scoreless innings in relief. After shortstop Erick Mejia singled, catcher Cam Gallagher walked and centerfielder Edward Olivares singled to load the bases. Designated hitter Ryan McBroom followed with an RBI single for the Chasers' first run before Gallagher scored on a wild pitch and left-fielder Kyle Isbel plated two with a single to right-center field.

Toledo extended its lead in the eighth with a pair of two-run home runs against left-hander Jake Kalish, one from Hill and another from Isaac Paredes.

The Chasers brought one run home in the ninth. Pinch-hitter Nate Esposito recorded his first hit of the season with a single up the middle and scored following singles from Mejia and Gallagher.

Mejia reached base five times, going 2-for-2 with three walks. Gallagher went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and two walks. First baseman Travis Jones recorded his first career Triple-A hit with a single in the third inning, while right-hander Dylan Coleman struck out two in a 1-2-3 seventh inning in his Triple-A debut.
