
Woolwich Rallies to Bring Hockeyville Back to Ontario

Representing Ontario in the top 5 of the Kraft Hockeyville 2009 contest, Woolwich continues to rally support in its' bid to become the winner of Canada's next Kraft Hockeyville.
Saturday night (February 14, 2009) CBC's Cassie Campbell and Steve (Stumpy) Thomas announced live from the Elmira Arena that Humboldt, Saskatchewan had taken the 4th of 5 spots. The 5th and final community which will be from Quebec will be unveiled during CBC's Hockey Night in Canada on February 21st.
This past weekend the local community came out in full force to participate in all the Hockeyville events around Woolwich Township. We have an incredible team of volunteers from every corner of the region that are making this campaign happen. The outpouring of support from all of the communities in the region is truly amazing said committee member Brenda Boland-Courtis. We had residents that offered their stories to be aired on CBC and others who are showing their support by decorating their homes, neighborhoods, schools and businesses with all the vigor and community pride that makes Woolwich Hockeyville!
Woolwich Hockeyville Committee Members are asking residents to please keep their displays, signs and decorations up until the end of voting on March 4th.
Woolwich still has its eye on the top prize of $100,000 and an NHL Pre- Season game to be played in Elmira as well as the bragging rights of being crowned Canada's Hockeyville 2009!
Final voting for the top spot will begin at 11:00pm on Saturday February 28th and go through until March 4th. There are three ways to vote: Telephone: 1-866-533-8066 SMS/Text Message with the words "Vote Woolwich" to 222111 On-line - www.woolwichhockeyville.ca
Woolwich is hoping that all of Ontario will support their endeavour and the memory of Dan Snyder by voting as much as they can to bring the title of Kraft Hockeyville back to Ontario.
Woolwich will be launching a "Drive for 5.5"over the next two weeks. Organizers are setting a goal of 5.5 million votes to crown Woolwich Canada's next Kraft Hockeyville 2009. Voting events will begin on Saturday, February 28th at the Elmira Arena and Gore Park. Details of these events will be posted on the www.woolwichhockeyville.ca site. The winner of Kraft Hockeyville 2009 will be revealed on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, Saturday March 7th.
