Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Tyler Wong is the Eastern Conference finalst for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy. The 2015 WHL Awards will take place on Wednesday, May 6th in Calgary.

Wong, who completed his third season with the Hurricanes, led the Hurricanes in scoring this season collecting 56 points (27g-29a) in 64 games. The Cochrane, Alberta product spent countless hours volunteering his time in the community. He served as a teacher's assistant in a grade 5 classroom helping tutor students at Dr. Probe Elementary School - something he arranged by himself. Wong led both on and off the ice this season and was always there when called upon by the Hurricanes.

The Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the WHL's Humanitarian of the Year. The award recognizes players who help and enhance the community they play in. In May of 2001, the Humanitarian of the Year Trophy was named in honour of former Regina Pat, Doug Wickenheiser for both his contributions on and off the ice.
