'Wolves Win Seventh Straight

The SeaWolves extended their longest winning streak of the season to seven straight on Friday night in front of 5,582 fans at Jerry Uht Park, taking down the Harrisburg Senators 5-1 in the series opener.
Harrisburg struck first in the top of the second inning against Erie starter Drew Smyly. Bryce Harper led off and singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and got to third on an error. Harper scored on a one-out Leonard Davis groundout for a 1-0 Senators edge.
The SeaWolves answered in the bottom of the third against Harrisburg starter Tanner Roark. Brandon Douglas led off with his second triple. Bryan Holaday and Brent Wyatt drew back-to-back walks loading the bases for the top of the lineup. Jamie Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Douglas, tying the game 1-1. Gustavo Nunez singled to left reloading the bases for Justin Henry. Henry singled home Holaday for a 2-1 Erie lead.
In the fourth, Erie added to its lead. Douglas doubled with one out and scored on a Holaday base knock for a 3-1 lead. Holaday came home on a Brent Wyatt double for a 4-1 lead and Johnson capped off the game's scoring by driving home Wyatt with a two-bagger for a 5-1 SeaWolves advantage.
Smyly (2-0) tossed five solid innings in his second Double-A start, earning his second win. He has won five straight going back to his final three starts with Lakeland. Smyly allowed an unearned run on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
The win snapped Erie's five-game losing streak to the Senators.
The SeaWolves continue a three-game series with the Senators on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park...7:05 First Pitch. Righty L.J. Gagnier (3-4, 4.81 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against LHP Danny Rosenbaum (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
Gates open at 5 p.m. for Saturday night's game for batting practice. The food buffet for Wolf Pack plan holders will begin at the regularly scheduled time of 5:45 p.m.
