THE BIG PICTURE
With eight games remaining in their regular-season slate, the Wolves (90 points) hold a one-point edge over the Omaha for the top spot in the West Division, with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights having three games in hand. Chicago's magic number to clinch its 12th playoff berth in 13 seasons is eight, which is the number of points the squad gains combined with the number of points the fifth-place Peoria Rivermen lose.
WOLF TRACKS
--- Chicago's six-goal effort on Sunday gave the team 303 for the season, which establishes a franchise record, eclipsing the 1997-98 Turner Cup Championship squad's 301 markers.
--- The Wolves' 303 goals are 36 more than the next closest team in the AHL; the club has potted six or more goals 18 times this season.
--- Chicago has killed off 41 of its 42 short-handed situations over the past seven games; the Wolves held Peoria without a power-play marker on Sunday, the 23rd time this season they blanked a foe with the man-advantage (17-3-0-3).
--- The Wolves have lost their last six contests that have reached the shootout round, which includes Saturday's defeat; the club has accrued a 5-2 record in its seven tilts decided in overtime and a 1-6 mark in its seven outings that have reached the shootout this season.
--- Chicago racked up a season-high 53 penalty minutes on Sunday; the Wolves and Peoria racked up 122 penalty minutes, the most combined by the squad and an opponent this year.
