Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team has received goalie David Shantz from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. In a related move, goaltender Adam Berkhoel was reassigned to the Dayton Bombers (ECHL).
Shantz comes to Rochester for the first time this season. The netminder was reassigned by the Florida Panthers earlier today and will join the team for their 10:00 a.m. practice on Tuesday, March 27th at The Blue Cross Arena.
This season, the Hamilton, Ontario, native has played in 23 games with the Everblades and has a 13-7-1 record, 2.96 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Shantz was assigned to Florida after attending the Amerks' 2006-07 training camp. The 20 year old was the Florida Panthers' second-round pick (37th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Berkhoel heads back to Dayton after a successful stint with the Amerks. The St. Paul, Minn., native was 2-3-0 with a 3.22 goals-against average. He was assigned to Rochester by the Buffalo Sabres on February 21st. He returns to Dayton, where he posted a 2.31 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and a 21-14-3 record in 38 games.
This week, the Amerks will remain at home for a two-game series against the Toronto Marlies. Game one will be played on Wednesday, March 28th on IKON Office Solution Night. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.
