Florida recalls Sprutks, Globke returns to Rochester

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forward Janis Sprutks and returned forward Rob Globke to Rochester.

Sprukts receives his fourth call-up of the season as he makes his way back to Florida. The Riga, Latvia, native, has played in six NHL games with Florida, registering one assist/point and a minus-two rating. Sprukts recorded his first NHL point on December 21st against the New York Rangers. As a member of the Rochester Americans, he is first on the team in points with 17 goals and 37 assists among all active players. His 54 points also place him eighth in the league in scoring among all rookies. He currently is on a two-game assist streak (0+3) with the Amerks as well.

Globke returns to Rochester after spending the past four weeks with the Panthers. The recall was his second of the season. During his stint with Florida, the Minnesota native played in 12 games, picking up his first NHL point/assist on March 20th against the Philadelphia Flyers. Globke has appeared in 19 total games this season with the Panthers organization. The University of Notre Dame graduate has 12 points (4+8) in 38 games this season for Rochester.

The Amerks are home again Wednesday, March 28th as they welcome the Toronto Marlies back to The Blue Cross Arena on IKON Office Solutions Night. The game will be the first of three straight home games and the seventh of 10 scheduled meetings between the North Division rivals. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com, and the B2 networks. Rochester will then take to the ice to play Toronto again on the evening of Friday, March 30th.

Rochester (42-27-1-0) enters Wednesday night's game currently holding the second place spot in the American Hockey League's North Division standings with 85 points, just one ahead of Hamilton and eight behind Manitoba. The Marlies presently are in last place with just 62 points.
