Iowa Wolves News Release
Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Iowa Wolves (18-24) dropped their 10th straight contest Saturday night, losing 116-91 to the Oklahoma City Blue (25-21) at the Cox Convention Center.
With the loss, the Wolves and Blue split the season series with the home team finishing 4-0.
After starting the game on a 4-0 run, the Wolves would give up the lead at the 9:57 mark in the first quarter and never again regain an advantage over the Blue.
Amile Jefferson led the Wolves with an 18-point, 8-rebound and 3-assist performance. Jefferson fell just short of what would have been his seventh consecutive double-double but finished 8-of-12 from the floor.
After playing just five minutes in the team's previous outing, Melo Trimble returned to tie a team-high with 18 points along with five assists. The former Terrapin knocked down a team-high four three-pointers on six attempts.
Minnesota Timberwolves first round draft pick Justin Patton continued his impressive offensive play in the second half of the season, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Patton has now scored in double digits in 17 of his last 18 outings (minimum 10 minutes played) dating back to Jan. 12.
Defensively, the Wolves allowed Oklahoma City to shoot 50.0% from the field and 41.7% from deep.
All eight players that registered minutes for the Blue finished in double figures.
Prince Williams finished with a season-high 10 points off the bench for Iowa. Aside from Williams, the Wolves' bench lacked much firepower, totaling 18 points on 5-of-25 shooting.
Two-way guard P.J. Dozier paced the Blue with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
The Wolves finish their four-game road trip with two consecutive games against the Reno Bighorns beginning Monday night at 9:00 p.m.
