Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (24-21) surged past the Texas Legends (25-19), 118-97, notching their fourth win in the last five games and bringing them within one game of the division lead.
After a first half that featured 13 lead changes, the Blue came out on an 18-7 run to outscore the Legends 40-19 in the third quarter. Oklahoma City had it going on both ends of the court, shooting 51.7 percent while holding the Legends to just 37.2 percent.
"I was pleased with how we played tonight," said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "I thought our defense, especially out of halftime, is what won the game for us. I thought we had a good response coming out of Wednesday. There were things we wanted to correct, and we got them corrected."
On assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dakari Johnson posted 17 points and eight rebounds on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. The Blue were led in scoring by two-way player PJ Dozier, who posted a game-high 20 points, going 9-for-14 from the field. Dozier also grabbed seven rebounds and three steals in the win.
The Blue had six players in double figures for the 21st time this season as Rashawn Thomas fell just one rebound shy of a double-double with his 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Having their way in the paint, Oklahoma City outscored Texas 64-38 in that area.
The Texas Legends were led by a double-double from Jalen Jones, who scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Tonight's win was the first of back-to-back games for the Blue as the team will face the Iowa Wolves tomorrow night at 7 p.m. inside Cox Convention Center.
