After two scoreless periods of play, Chicago's Pat Cannone opened the scoring 8:44 into the third. Former Iowa Wild forward Riley Brace (2013-14), carried the puck out of the Wolves zone and up through the neutral zone, gaining the Iowa line. Brace slipped a pass to the right wing for Cannone, who quickly lifted a wrist shot over the left shoulder of Jeremy Smith, beating the Wild goalie short side. His ninth goal of the year made it a 1-0 Wolves lead. Chicago extended its lead to 2-0 at 11:38 as defenseman Andre Benoit beat Smith for his fourth goal of the year. Cannone and Brace controlled the puck in the Iowa zone, finding Benoit up top. Benoit skated to his left and blasted a slap shot over the glove of Smith for the 2-0 lead. The Wolves finished the scoring with 4:30 left in the third period. Zack Torquato dumped the puck in behind the Iowa net, as forward Yannick Veilleux managed to come away with it, finding Eriah Hayes with a backhand pass from the end boards.
