Capitals Recall Ryan Stanton from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Ryan Stanton from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Stanton, 26, has registered 27 points (four goals, 23 assists) and 69 penalty minutes in 119 career NHL games with the Blackhawks and Canucks. He appeared in 54 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season and recorded 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and 35 penalty minutes. Stanton set NHL career-highs in goals, plus/minus (+9) and penalty minutes in 2014-15 and ranked fourth among Canucks defenseman in hits (93) and blocked shots (113). He played in his 100th NHL game on Feb. 3, 2015 against Winnipeg. The 6'2", 204-pound defenseman made his NHL debut on April 27, 2013 at St. Louis and scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 17, 2013 against Buffalo. Stanton signed with the Capitals as a free agent on July 24, 2015.

Stanton tallied seven points (two goals, five assists) and 34 penalty minutes in 30 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. The St. Albert, Alberta, native made his Hershey debut on Oct. 10, 2015 and scored his first goal with the Bears on Oct. 24 against Hartford. He has registered 67 points (11 goals, 56 assists) and 366 penalty minutes in 254 career AHL games with Rockford and Hersey.
