Wolves Fall in Road Trip Opener
October 11, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Wolves began their Thanksgiving road trip with a 6-2 loss to the London Knights on Friday night. After a closely contested first period, the Knights broke out for five unanswered goals in the second period, which turned out to be the difference in the game.
The Wolves and Knights battled in back and forth play to open up the game. Both teams had powerplay opportunities, but it remained scoreless at the end of one. The Wolves outshot the Knights 11-9 in the period.
In the second period, the Knights exploded for five goals in the frame. The Knights were able to show their depth as four different goal scorers helped the Knights break out in the period. Not much went right for the Wolves in this period as they were outshot 21-9.
The Wolves battled back with a very good effort in the third period. London scored an early powerplay goal early, however, it was all Wolves after that. JACOB HARRIS got the Wolves on the board with a powerplay goal of his own. KYLE CAPOBIANCO and PATRICK MURPHY helped set up the marker. Late in the period, DMITRY SOKOLOV scored his first OHL goal, assisted by CHAD HEFFERNAN. Despite the great period, it was too little, too late for the Wolves. They outshot the Knights 22-9 in the frame, and overall 42-39 in the game.
The Wolves continue their road trip on Sunday, October 11, when they visit the Sarnia Sting. Game time is 2:05 pm. The next Sudbury Wolves home game is Friday, October 16th when the North Bay Battalion visit the Nickel City.
