Flint, MI - The first home game in Flint after a four-game road swing would see Alex Nedeljkovic make his season debut and a Will Bitten hat-trick to give the Firebirds their second win in two games on home-ice.

Bitten would strike his first of the evening on a power-play at 12:22 when he wacked the puck out of the air finding the back-of-the-net to give the Firebirds the early lead.

A late penalty to Connor Chantam for high-sticking would put the Firebirds down-a-man late in the first period. Sarnia's Nikandrov scored off the crossbar tying the game 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

With 3:03 left in the second period, Bitten scored his second of the game on a breakaway backhanding the puck five-hole past Hughes to regain the Firebirds lead over the Sting 2-1. Connor Chatham and Josh Wesley were both credited with assists on the goal.

Sarnia would score for the final time of the evening in the third period at 2:22 to tie the game 2-2 when Zacha score glove-side from the right circle forcing the game into overtime.

While on a breakaway in the extra frame, Bitten would get dragged down earning a penalty shot with 1:20 remaining. Going for the hat trick, Bitten rifled the puck low

The Firebirds are back in action at home at the Dort Federal Event Center tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 11. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. against the Peterborough Petes and fans in attendance will have the opportunity to skate with the team after the game.
