Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack wrapped up their weekend in thrilling fashion on Thanksgiving Sunday.

The Bayshore was home to a barnburner between the Attack and the visiting Ottawa 67's, but unfortunately for the Attack faithful, it was the visitors who skated away with a 7-5 win.

Ottawa struck early and made it 1-0 just 2:27 into the game, with Nathan Todd tapping home a back door pass from Travis Konecny on the 67's 2nd shot of the afternoon.

The Attack would find their legs though, and just about five minutes after Ottawa opened the scoring, Owen Sound responded.

Scoring on a solo effort was Santino Centorame, who beat Liam Herbst with a hard wrist shot for his 3rd goal of the year with 7:31 gone in the period.

The tie game didn't last long though, as Ottawa stormed right back.

Picking up their 2nd points of the game were Todd and Konecny, who set up Artur Tyanulin who scored from the low slot just 44 seconds after the Attack goal.

The 67's would use that goal to drive play for the remainder of the frame, but with just nine seconds left in the opening 20 minutes, the Attack would find themselves on a Baywest Nissan Powerplay after Ottawa's Jeremiah Addison ws called for cross checking.

That man-advantage, like the 2-1 Ottawa lead, would stand as the 2nd period began.

Despite a slow start to the frame for both sides, the 2nd period ended in a flurry with a combined four goals scored in the final four minutes and fourteen seconds of the frame.

Petrus Palmu would tie the game at two apiece with a wicked wrister from the high slot before Santino Centorame's 2nd goal of the game would give the Attack a one goal lead just over a minute later.

Bryson Cianfrone continued the scoring flurry by making it a 4-2 lead for the Attack with just 1:42 left in the stanza.

Tyler MacArthur earned an assist on Palmu's goal, while the Attack's Finnish import would assist on the 2nd period goals by Centorame and Cianfrone. Jacob Busch and Ethan Szypula also joined in on the scoring picking up assists on the Attack's 3rd and 4th goals respectively.

Ottawa wouldn't go to the dressing room quietly though. Just 18 seconds after Cianfrone made it a two goal Attack lead, Ben Fanjoy would slide a loose puck past Owen Sound netminder Daniel Dekoning, making it 4-3 to start the 3rd period.

The 3rd period ma have started with the Attack up by one goal, but that was erased just 52 seconds after the puck was dropped.

Ottawa forward Dante Salituro scored the game's 8th goal just 52 seconds into the frame, before making it 5-4 with 4:31 just 4:31 having elapsed in the 3rd period.

But as appeared to be the theme of the afternoon, goals weren't hard to come by.

Jaden Lindo would tie the game at five-apiece just 36 seconds after the 67's took the lead.

Lindo's goal, which came with helpers from Santino Centorame and Josh Sterk, was quickly erased though.

Completeing the hat-trick was Dante Salituro, who gave the visitors a 6-5 lead at the 6:31 mark of the frame, prompting the Attack to bring Michael McNiven off of the bench in relief of Dekoning.

McNiven was tested quickly, and responded with a pair of quick saves but the 67's were able to get to him as well.

The game's 12th goal was scored just 1:07 after the change in net was made, and came off of the stick of Trent Malette, who gave the 67's a two goal advantage.

Malette's goal would wind up being the game's final marker as the Attack failed to capitalize on a five minute Baywest Nissan Powerplay as time wound down in the 3rd period.

Attack goalies combined to stop 22 shots on the night as the Mark McDade Remax Shots on Goal finished at 37-29 for the home side.

The Hatten Home Hardware Hardest Working Player of the Game Jaden Lindo, who scored once in the loss.

Ottawa's Dante Salituro was named the Mac Taylor Corporation 1st Star of the Game thinks to his 3rd period hattrick, while his teammate Travis Konecny earned 3rd star thanks to his three assists.

Petrus Palmu was the game's 2nd star after pocketing a goal and two assists on the afternoon.
