'Wolves Drop Series Finale to Thunder

The SeaWolves fell behind early and could not mount a comeback against the Trenton Thunder on Thursday night at Jerry Uht Park as they dropped the series finale 5-2.

Trenton struck first in the top of the third inning against Erie starter Brooks Brown. Jose Gil led off the inning and blasted his sixth home run of the season for a 1-0 Trenton lead. Addison Maruszak followed with a triple and he scored on a one-out fielder's choice for a 2-0 lead. Rob Lyerly singled home Kruml for a 3-0 Trenton advantage.

Erie got on the board in the second against Trenton starter Craig Heyer. Audy Ciriaco doubled with one out and moved to third on a Bryan Pounds single. Deik Scram singled home Ciriaco making it a 3-1 game. With two outs, John Murrian hit an opposite-field single, cutting the Trenton lead in half a 3-2.

Trenton went back ahead by a pair in the fifth. Maruszak and Austin Krum each doubled to start the inning for a 4-2 Trenton edge.

In the top of the seventh, Krum slammed his second home run of the season putting the Thunder back ahead by three runs at 5-2.

Criag Heyer (10-6) earned the win for Trenton tossing eight innings, allowing two runs on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Brown (2-9) took the loss allowing five runs on eight hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.

Thursday night was Bark at the Park Night presented by Ainsworth Pet Nutrition and over 200 dogs were in attendance.

The SeaWolves hit the road, beginning a six-game road trip in Harrisburg on Friday night at Metro Bank Park.
