Harrisburg Senators News Release
Derek Norris hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to lead the Senators to a 4-2 victory against the Akron Aeros at Canal Park Thursday night. The win is the 70th of the season for the Sens and keeps them two games ahead of Bowie and moves them 3 1/2 games in front of third place Richmond in the Western Division playoff race. The Senators also have the best record in the Eastern League at 70-54.
In the fourth, the Sens scored first when Chris McConnell reached base on a fielding error, scoring Gilbert, who led off the inning with a single and stole second base.
Norris, Erik Komatsu, Archie Gilbert, and Tim Pahuta had two hits each. It was also the third game in a row that Norris has homered in.
Sens starter, Danny Rosenbaum threw 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and one run, and improved to a 2-0 record with Harrisburg. Jimmy Barthmaier came on in relief of Rosenbaum in the seventh inning and pitched a solid 1 1/3 innings. He did not allow a hit and struck out two.
With the score 4-1 in the bottom of the ninth, the Aeros attempted to rally, but Senators' pitcher Pat Lehman retired the final three batters after hitting the leadoff batter and giving up a double to drive in the Aeros' second run.
The Senators head home to Harrisburg to face the Erie SeaWolves for a quick three-game homestand beginning Friday night. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. with the Senators sending LH Oliver Perez to the mound against the SeaWolves' LH Casey Crosby. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
