
Wolves Can't Reign in High-Flying Colts

The Sudbury Wolves were looking to rebound Friday night at home as they hosted the division leading Barrie Colts. Ultimately, the Colts potent offense was too much too handle and the Wolves fell by a score of 7-3. DAVID LEVIN had a goal and an assist on the night to gain second star honors. TROY TIMPANO made 44 saves and played very well despite allowing 7 goals.
The first period began with the Colts testing TROY TIMPANO early on. The Colts struck first on the powerplay with a goal from DYLAN SADOWY. They struck once again later in the period with a goal from ANDREW MANGIAPANE to take a 2-0 lead. TROY TIMPANO made a number of acrobatic stops to keep the game close. Shots at the end of the period were 16-6 in favor of the Colts.
The second period saw much of the same for the Wolves as the Barrie Colts extended their lead with goals by DYLAN SADOWY and JOSH CARRICK. With the score 4-0 the Wolves clawed back with a goal from defenceman REAGAN O'GRADY. DAVID LEVIN and RYAN VALENTINI added the assists. The Colts subsequently extend their lead to 5-1 when KEIGAN GOETZ potted his 10th goal of the season. The Wolves however were not done yet as DAVID LEVIN scored his 9th goal of the season with assists from MATT SCHMALZ and RYAN VALENTINI to make it 5-2. Shots at the end of the second period were 32-14 in favor of the Colts.
The third period began with a number of good scoring chances for both clubs. Midway through the third period, KEVIN LABANC scored on the powerplay to extend the lead to 6-2. CODY GAGNON added a goal for the Colts shortly after to make it a 7-2 game. The Wolves were not going to give up as DMITRY SOKOLOV added his 27th goal of the season on a nifty backhand goal at the end of the third period to finalize the 7-3 score. DAVID LEVIN picked up the assist. Shots at the end of the game were 47-23 in favor of the Colts. DAVID LEVIN had a fantastic night with a goal and an assist and won 64% of his face-offs taken.
The Wolves now hit the road when they travel to Hamilton on Satuday to visit the Bulldogs at 7pm Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into the live play-by-play on KFM 95.5 to Stew Kernan.
