March 11, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release
After dropping back-to-back games the Erie Otters looked determined against the Guelph Storm as Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat logged four points each.
Erie hit a ton of milestones and records in their 4-1 win over Guelph. Strome became the first player in Otters history to have two 100-point seasons and DeBrincat is now the first Otter to score five hat tricks in a season. Devin Williams moved into first in the history books in career minutes for an Erie goaltender, while Darren Raddysh registered his 100th career regular season point.
DeBrincat opened the floodgates for the Otters 80 seconds into the game with a rocket of a shot on the power play. With less than five minutes left in the opening period DeBrincat snagged his second of the game as he buried a pass from Taylor Raddysh past Bradley Van Schubert.
At the midway point of the middle period the Otters picked up their second power play goal of the game. Jake Marchment feed Strome with a pass in the slot that he launched in the Storm net to put Erie on top 3-0.
The Storm broke Williams shutout with just under two minutes left in the game as C.J. Garcia ripped a shot from the point. After Guelph pulled the goalie DeBrincat notched a goal to complete the hat trick and the Otters 4-1 win.
The Otters and Storm will reconvene in Erie for their final head-to-head match of the season tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
