Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves made their final visit of the season to St. Catherines on Saturday night to battle their divisional rival, the Niagara IceDogs. The first period saw a flurry of goals right off the hop, but once things settled down, the IceDogs came out on top with a 3-2 victory.

RYAN VALENTINI got the Wolves on the board early with a goal just 25 seconds into the opening frame. Former IceDog MIKKEL AAGAARD picked up the assist on the play. The IceDogs tied the game up 20 seconds later on a goal by Blake Siebenaler. At the 7 minute mark, the IceDogs overtook the lead as Siebenaler scored his second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead over the Wolves. Shots on goal after the first were 18-6 in favour of the IceDogs.

Former Wolf Pavel Jenys scored the only goal of the second period to give the IceDogs a 3-1 lead. This was Jenys third point of the game as he picked up assists on the IceDogs previous two goals. Shots on goal at the end of the second period were 30-26 in favour of the IceDogs.

The Wolves tried to tie things up in the third period. DMITRY SOKOLOV scored one in the final minute of play to make it 3-2, but that was a close as they came. Final shots on goal were 39-37 in favour of the IceDogs. Wolves' goaltender TROY TIMPANO made 36 saves on the night, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 for the IceDogs to pick up the win.

The Wolves will hit the ice Sunday afternoon in Mississauga to close out their 3-in-3 weekend against the Steelheads at 2pm. You can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into KFM 95.5 for the live play-by-play or watch on Eastlink TV.
