Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads closed out a 3-in-3 weekend Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Sudbury Wolves for a matinee game at the Hershey Centre. The Steelheads came in to today's game looking to snap a four-game losing streak; and they did just that. With today's 2-1 win, the Steelheads clinched a playoff spot and improved to 31-29-1-3. With 66 points each, the Steelheads, Niagara IceDogs and Peterborough Petes continue to jockey for postseason positioning, with the Ottawa 67s not far ahead with 67 points.

Mason Marchment got things going for the Steelheads with his 20th of the season, and second in as many days, to give the Steelheads a 1-0 lead in the first. Nathan Bastian and Josh Burnside had the assists on Marchment's power play marker. The Wolves responded back with a goal from Conor Cummins late in the frame to even the score 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

Marcus Dickerson restored the Steelheads lead at 6:15 of the middle frame. Nathan Bastian and Damian Bourne picked up the assists on Dickerson's third of the season and eventual game winner.

Jack Flinn stood tall for the Steelheads, turning away 22 shots to preserve the Steelheads 2-1 lead. With only four regular season games remaining, the Steelheads will travel to Kingston on Friday before returning home to host the Oshawa Generals on Wednesday, March 16th at the Hershey Centre.
