67's Deliver Blow to Bulldogs

March 6, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - Niki Petti had his twenty-second goal of the season, but that was all the offence for the Hamilton Bulldogs (23-33-8-0) in a 4-1 defeat to the Ottawa 67's (32-29-2-1).

A strong offensive zone forecheck saw the puck pop out to defenceman Jacob Middleton whose knuckling slapshot was tipped by Nathan Todd to put the 67's ahead 1-0 at 5:31 of the first. Artur Tyanulin had the secondary assist.

In the second, a rebound off a Middleton shot bounced off the pad of Bulldogs goalie Kaden Fulcher, right to a streaking Tyanulin who buried the puck into the empty net. Austin Keating also had an assist at 10:37.

Travis Barron made it 3-0, picking up a puck behind the net and wrapping it around to beat Fulcher. Assists went to Trent Mallette and Dante Salituro on Barron's thirteenth of the year at 11:58.

Hamilton was able to get one back as Petti outmuscled his man in front and converted a Matt Luff pass from behind the net. Matthew Strome ran his point streak to three games with the secondary assist at 17:55.

Salituro found the empty cage at 19:46 to end the scoring in this one. Jeremiah Addison drew the lone assist on Salituro's team leading thirty-fourth goal of the year at 19:46 of the third.

Fulcher made 26 saves in the loss for Hamilton, while Leo Lazarev made 18 saves in the win.

Hamilton went 0-for-1 on the power play, while Ottawa went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, March 12 when they host the Sudbury Wolves at the FirstOntario Centre for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
