March 6, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters picked up just their 13th loss of the season after falling to the Niagara IceDogs 4-2. Despite the loss Dylan Strome logged his 264th point to put him in third place all-time in regular season points for an Otter.
After a scoreless first period Kyle Maksimovich put the Otters on the scoreboard first with a shot through bodies that fooled Alex Nedeljkovic. Niagara answered over 10 minutes later when captain Anthony DiFruscia potted a power play goal. With 52 seconds left in the second frame the IceDogs grabbed their first lead of the game when Ben Jones notched an easy goal off of a rebound.
With less than 10 minutes left Graham Knott launched a wrist shot passed Devin Williams to give Niagara the 3-1 lead. 16 seconds later Strome notched his 33rd goal of the season to make it a one-goal game. DiFruscia picked up his second goal of the contest with under three minutes left in regulation to seal the deal on the IceDogs 4-2 win.
Erie is back on home ice on Wednesday when they host the Flint Firebirds at 7:00 p.m.
