'Wolves Blast off and Take Down Baysox 10-2

The SeaWolves snapped a two-game losing skid as they blasted 10 runs on 16 hits en route to a 10-2 win over the Bowie Baysox on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park.

The ‘Wolves jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning against Bowie starter Wynn Pelzer. With two outs, Ben Guez cracked an opposite field home run to right, his third of the season for a 1-0 Erie lead. Rawley Bishop and Audy Ciriaco followed with consecutive singles bringing Bryan Holaday to the plate. Holaday singed home Bishop for a 2-0 Erie advantage.

In the second, the ‘Wolves went ahead 3-0. Francisco Martinez led off, walked and scored on a throwing error on a Justin Henry single.

Bowie plated a run in the top of the third off of ‘Wolves starter L.J. Gagnier. Pedro Florimon led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Kyle Hudson double. Florimon scored on a one-out single from Greg Miclat making it a 3-1 game.

Erie went back ahead by three in the bottom of the third. Bishop led off and doubled and moved to third on a Ciriaco single. Bishop scored when Holaday grounded into a double play for a 4-1 Erie edge.

In the fourth, Martinez led off with a triple and scored on a Jamie Johnson groundout for a 5-1 lead.

The ‘Wolves would then take a commanding lead in the fifth. Ciriaco and Holaday reached on consecutive hit by pitches. With two outs, Martinez crushed his third home run of the season. The three-run blast make it 8-1 in favor of the ‘Wolves.

Erie added a pair of runs in the eighth to go ahead by nine and went on for a 10-2 win.

Gagnier (3-1) picked up the win tossing seven solid innings, allowing a run on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. He is Erie's first three-game winner.

The ‘Wolves and Baysox play the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon...1:05 First Pitch. Righty Luke Putkonen (0-3, 8.27 ERA) takes the mound for the SeaWolves against RHP Steve Johnson (1-0, 0.56 ERA).
