Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves have signed center RILEY HOLZAPFEL (HOHL-za-fehl) to an Amateur Tryout Contact (ATO).

The Atlanta Thrashers' second choice, 43rd overall, in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft, HOLZAPFEL ranked fifth on the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL) with 41 points (18G, 23A) despite appearing in just 49 of the team's 72 regular-season games. The 19-year-old forward ranked second on the squad with five assists and eight points in six postseason contests during the Warriors' first round, 4-games-to-2, series loss against the Calgary Hitmen.

HOLZAPFEL helped Team Canada capture the Gold Medal at the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Pardubice and Liberec, Czech Republic, in January.

The Regina, Saskatchewan, native collected 91 goals, 117 assists, 208 points and 215 penalty minutes in 248 regular-season contests during four seasons of action with Moose Jaw (2004 to 2008). He notched junior career highs with 39 goals, 43 assists and 82 points in 72 games in 2006-07.

HOLZAPFEL also appeared in 33 postseason contests with the Warriors, racking up 27 points (11G, 16A) and 40 penalty minutes.
