Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce the organization will honour Jennifer Jones and her team of Cathy Overton-Clapham, Jill Officer, and Dawn Askin from the St. Vital Curling Club prior the Moose game versus the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday, April 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at the MTS Centre.

The Jones foursome won the World Women's Curling Championships this past weekend in Vernon, B.C.

As part of the pre-game tribute, a video honouring the Jones' team will be played on the MTS Centre scoreboard and they will participate in a ceremonial puck-drop with representatives of the Moose and Wolves.

Jones and her foursome captured their first World Curling Championship this past Sunday with a 7-4 victory over the Team China. It was the first world title for a team from Canada since 1996 and the first for a team from Manitoba since Connie Laliberte and her team won gold back in 1984. It was only the third time in 10 tries a Canadian team had captured the world title on home soil.

This will be the second time the Moose have honored Jones and her team as they were also saluted following their victory in the Canadian Curling Championships in 2005.
