Hurricanes Return Jensen To Albany

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Joe Jensen has been returned on loan to Albany by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. Albany also announced that defenseman Brock Wilson has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement.

Jensen, 25, was recalled to Carolina for the second time this season on March 15th and appeared in five games for the Hurricanes. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native scored his first career NHL goal on March 19th, the game-winning goal in a 5-3 win at Atlanta. The Hurricanes acquired Jensen on January 31st from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward David Gove and he made his NHL debut with the ‘Canes on February 18th against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. He has played a total of six NHL games with Carolina this year, with one goal, two penalty minutes and a +1 plus-minus rating. Jensen has eight points (6 goals, 2 assists) in 18 games played for Albany.

Wilson, 23, appeared in his first two career AHL games for Albany this past week. The St. Louis, Missouri native was released from his PTO and returned to the Flint Generals of the IHL, where he had 28 points (3 goals, 25 assists) in 59 games played.

The River Rats continue their stretch of seven straight road games on Wednesday, April 2nd against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Wachovia Arena. Albany's next home game is on Wednesday, April 9th against the Norfolk Admirals; a 7:00 pm face off at the Times Union Center.
