
Moran Named CCM/AHL Player Of Month

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, today announced forward Brad Moran has been named CCM/AHL Player of the Month for the month of March. Moran scored five goals and 16 assists for 21 points in 13 games to help the Moose to a 10-1-0-2 record last month.
Moran assisted on both Manitoba goals in a 2-1 win over Quad City on Mar. 2, then began his current nine-game scoring streak with an assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at Hamilton on Mar. 9. Moran also recorded a team record seven consecutive multiple-point games from Mar. 15-28, beginning with a two-goal effort in a 5-0 win at Hershey. He tallied the game-winner in a 3-2 decision over San Antonio on Mar. 19 and had back-to-back three-point nights against San Antonio on Mar. 20 (1g, 2a) and Lake Erie on Mar. 25 (3a). Moran was named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 30. Moran ranks sixth in the American Hockey League with 72 points (21 goals, 51 assists) in 67 games for Manitoba in 2007-08, matching his career high for points in a season. He currently leads the Moose in points, assists, shots on goal (173), and game-winning goals (6).
In 470 career AHL games with the Moose and the Syracuse Crunch, Moran has tallied 144 goals and 241 assists for 385 points and 307 penalty minutes. He has also played eight career NHL games - five with the Columbus Blue Jackets and three with the Vancouver Canucks - where's he's earned one goal and two assists for three points and four penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro in 2000-01, Moran played five seasons with the WHL's Calgary Hitmen, averaging well over a point per game with 204 goals and 246 assists for 450 points in 357 games.
Moran was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round, 191st overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
Moran becomes the first member of the Manitoba Moose to capture the AHL's Player of Month award since they joined the league in 2001.
