
Karl Goehring Named Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender Of The Month

Syracuse, NY - The American Hockey League announced today that Syracuse Crunch goaltender Karl Goehring has been named the Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for March.
Goehring appeared in 8 of 12 games for the Crunch in the month of March, going 7-0-0-1 with a 1.59 goals-against average and .951 save percentage.
In the Crunch's 3-1 win over Rochester on March 1, Goehring stopped 26 of 27 shots and was named the game's third star. On Wednesday, March 26, Goehring was the first star of the game as he turned aside 39 of 41 shots in regulation and overtime and denied 4 of 5 shootout attempts en route to Syracuse's 3-2 win over first place Toronto.
On March 28, Goehring was again named first star, making 35 saves on 37 shots to lift the Crunch to a 3-2 overtime win over Albany. In all, Goehring made 255 saves on 268 shots during the month. In 27 combined games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Norfolk and Syracuse this season, Goehring has a 13-9-2 record with a 2.34 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
In recognition of his achievement, Goehring will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Crunch home game.
A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Goehring is the Crunch's career leader in wins (76), fourth in goals-against average (2.61) and second all-time in shutouts (10).
Other nominees for Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month include Albany's Michael Leighton, Bridgeport's Mike Morrison, Chicago's Ondrej Pavelec, Hartford's David LeNeveu, Houston's Barry Brust, Lowell's Dave Caruso, Manchester's Daniel Taylor, Manitoba's Cory Schneider, Milwaukee's Pekka Rinne, Norfolk's Marc Denis, Philadelphia's Martin Houle, Portland's Jean-Sebastien Aubin, Providence's Tuukka Rask, Quad City's Curtis McElhinney, Rochester's Tyler Plante, Rockford's Wade Flaherty, Toronto's Scott Clemmensen and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's John Curry.
The Crunch's next game is Wednesday, April 2 vs. Binghamton at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
