Wolf Pack's Nicklas Jensen Earns CCM/AHL Player of the Week Honors

March 21, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

HARTFORD: The American Hockey League announced today that Hartford Wolf Pack right-wing Nicklas Jensen has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 20.

Jensen amassed four goals and three assists for seven points, as the Wolf Pack swept a three-game weekend and moved into a tie for a playoff spot.

On Friday night at the XL Center against the Portland Pirates, the team with whom the Wolf Pack is battling for the fifth-place slot in the Atlantic Division, Jensen struck for the Wolf Pack's first regular-season hat trick in over three years, finishing it off with the overtime game-winner in a 4-3 Hartford victory. In a Saturday-night home battle with Springfield, Jensen had a pair of assists, including the primary helper on Chad Nehring's goal that tied the game with 54.1 seconds left in regulation, and scored a shootout goal, as the Wolf Pack pulled out a 4-3 triumph over the Falcons. Then, in a rematch Sunday in Springfield, Jensen set up Marek Hrivik's first-period game-winning goal, and added a key late-third-period power-play insurance tally, as the Wolf Pack blanked the Falcons, 3-0.

Jensen is the first Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale player to capture Player of the Week honors since Kris Newbury won the designation for the week ending January 1, 2012. In recognition of the Player of the Week designation, Jensen will receive an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolf Pack home game.

A fifth-year pro out of the Ontario Hockey League who was acquired by the parent New York Rangers January 8 from Vancouver, Jensen has tallied 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points in 29 games with the Wolf Pack since the trade. In 56 total AHL games this year between the Wolf Pack and Utica Comets, the 23-year-old Herning, Denmark native has 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points. Jensen, a first-round selection by the Canucks (29th overall) in the 2011 NHL draft, has rung up 51 goals and 37 assists for 88 points in 198 career AHL outings with the Wolf Pack, Comets and Chicago Wolves, and has seen action in 24 NHL games with Vancouver, notching three assists.

The Wolf Pack's next action is on home ice this Wednesday, March 23, as the Providence Bruins visit the XL Center for a 7:00 game. That is the last "Winning Wednesday" of the season. If the Wolf Pack win, fans can show their Winning Wednesday ticket at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center and receive a free ticket to the next Wolf Pack home game after that, which is this Friday, March 25 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (some restrictions apply).

Tickets for all remaining 2015-16 Wolf Pack home games are on sale now at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center, on-line at www.hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499. Tickets purchased in advance for kids 12 or younger have been reduced to $10 this season, and all tickets will have a $2 day-of-game increase.
